Tesco returning item with no receipt

Hi, not sure if this is in right place. I purchased a Tesco Activequipment 8' goal post about 3/4 months ago from Tesco instore, it was reduced to around £7.50 from £25. I put it away for a birthday and it is still sealed. However, its been pointed out to me today that the reviews for this product are appalling, constantly collapsing or breaking within days. I've searched for my receipt but can't find it. As its over 28 days since purchase is there anything I can do with regards a refund/credit note/exchange? Even without a receipt am I covered by some sort of guarantee? Any advice welcome

They might do but I am not sure they are obligated to unless you can prove you purchased it from them. Is it obviously from Tesco - a Tesco branded item or something that is only sold in Tesco etc?0

They are not obligated to take it back.
If it is obvious it's T's and un opened etc you could try the old ploy of bought by mistake/ someone else has bought it etc and have lost receipt.Private Parking Tickets - Make sure you put your Subject Access Request in after 25th May 2018 - It's free & ask for everything, don't forget the DVLA0 -
Its got 'Tesco Activequipment' on the box, so is only sold by Tesco. I've never thought about it before but do Tesco goods only have a 28 day guarantee, with or without a receipt? All the reviews say what absolute rubbish it is and how easily it breaks, I'm guessing if I do give it as a gift it won't last a day!0

If you used your own Clubcard at the time of purchase I believe Tesco can trace the transaction proving your date, place and value of purchase.0

No - CC can not see what you bought. They can only see the transaction date, time, store and total value. Which may be fine if you only bought that item, or if it was recent enough for the store to generate a new receipt.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -
If you used a debit/credit card and can remember the date of the transaction, you could try taking the statement with you. This works with faulty products but not sure if it would be applicable to your case. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

Hi, thank you for taking time to reply. Doesn't sound too promising re taking the item back unopened. Am I covered by some sort of product guarantee if I open it and it duly falls apart/breaks as all the reviews suggest it will, even if it is after 28 days and I haven't got the receipt surely I should be able to take it back, I thought products were covered by a year or had to be sold 'fit for purpose', apparently as soon as a ball hits this net it collapses and everything snaps!0

Why not just give it a go. At £7.50 not a lot to lose and chances are it will be well worth that. I would imagine iF you go back in without receipt and they agree to refund you will only get pennies as it will be given at lowest sale price.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0
