I wanna know

If this is good value for money

http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=10651&langId=-1&searchTerms=2040240

I know nothing about rings although im having a good look around the internet and learning a little bit more.

I just thought this would be the best place to ask and get honest answers.

Thanks

It really depends on the quality of the diamond and the number of inclusions in the stone......each one is different.

I have only seen a couple of diamond rings from Argos and neither were much good and that's according to her indoors who worked in research for a large diamond company for several years.

Personally I'd not even consider a real diamond. There are some wonderfully realistic 'fake' diamonds around which are just as beautiful to look at (and almost as hard-wearing) and you don't have the fear factor of it being lost or stolen.
Plus, as a hardened MSE-er, you could save about £850.......look here:-

I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Moissanite is in no way shape of form a 'fake diamond', it's a jewel in its own right and only *competes* with diamond - and actually wins.

People usually buy a diamond for it being... a diamond. All the media hype.

Moissanite has much more fire, is brighter and the second hardest thing to diamond. Yet its up to 1/10th of the price.

It's nothing like Cubic Zirconia/CZ which has no real 'fire' or sparkle to it.

When you compare diamonds and moissanite with their properties side by side, moissanite blows diamond out of the water. Any other product, such as a computer or cars and people wouldn't hesitate to buy the much better product at a much much lower price.
But diamond has a lot of hype attached with it.

The only thing I can compare it to is:
You're flying to the states, you'ev got a choice of an economy ticket for £4000 or a business class ticket for £400. Which one do you take?

Oh and moissanite may be man-made (it takes years to grow), but at least you don't run a risk of it being a conflict or blood diamond. Its estimated up to 20% of all diamonds in circulation could be conflicts.
[Not to mention, even in non-conflict mines/area's, the conditions won't be the best, there are reports of children being used in sierra leone who get pay 7 cents a day]
