When will I get my claim letter for State Pension?

Hi,
I reach the State Pension age on 6th November 2013.
The Pension web site says that I should have a claim letter 4 months before the pension date. I am nearing the 3 months to go date now. Any idea when the letters are sent out?
I have just had a pension statement from them this week with all the details but still no letter?
It says on the web site that you cannot claim without this letter?
Anyone else experiencing this delay?
Thanks
Sue

"You won’t get your State Pension automatically - you have to claim it. You should get a letter 4 months before you reach State Pension age, telling you what to do.
If you haven’t got a letter 3 months before your State Pension age, phone the claim line. They’ll discuss with you what you need to do."0 -
Thank you for your reply. I understand what you have written but I am wondering if anyone who also gets their pension in November 2013 has received a letter yet?0

When I got to the 3 month point, I went on to the website and rang the number given there (can't remember the exact details). They said "oh the letters are just going out" and indeed, mine arrived the next morning!0

Thank you jackyann.
I thought that would be how it happened.
I applied for a Gateway card to be able go on line and claim when I received the letter. Due to having difficulties I contacted the help desk and a guy there said to apply on line regardless, that way I would be ahead of the game when a letter eventually came.
I got the impression from what he said that the letters would be delayed!
I thought I had better wait for the letter.
Thanks for your help.

Just an update on my State Pension Claim.
Got to the 3 month to go point and no claim letter.
Phoned the Pension Service number and made a claim over the phone. No mention of any letter being sent out as per the info on their website?0 -
If you don't need the income you can also just defer taking the state pension. It goes up by 10.4% for each year, pro-rated for time less than a year. It's one of the best investment deals around for those with a normal or longer life expectancy.0

I reach pension age on 6 September and I had my letter about claiming dated 18 June (obviously received it a day or two later), so I guess yours would have come around 18 August for a 6 November date?0
