Vinegar makes me itch!!!

I have been using vinegar religiously after being introduced to it via this site. It makes my towles really soft and fluffy and is great news for my washing machine.
HOWEVER, I have been using it in all my loads of washing (including my underwear!) and recently have found my skin to be very sensitive and itchy. Obviously this not great news. I have thought of all the possibilities and think vinegar is the problem.
Has anyone else found this problem? Can anyone suggest alternatives.
As for washing powder I use tesco own brand liquid as I am allergic to so many others - think I've practically tried them all. Just as well tesco's is not expensive!!!!
thanks
