Electoral Roll and Credit History at different addresses

Hi, i wonder if anyone can help.

2 years ago my parents sold our family home to my brother. I lived with my brother for a while before moving back with my parents at their new address around a year and a half ago.

I kept my bank account, driving license, phone bill, credit card registered at my brothers address because I was always planning to move out on my own sooner rather than later so did not want the hassle of changing everything over more than once.

However I am on the electoral roll at the new address with my parents. Me and my partner now wish to apply for a mortgage and I am concerned about the impact of this as it is obviously flagged up on my credit rating.

Would you reccomend that I transfer all of my accounts to my parents address and explain to the potential lender why it has only been done recently. What impact is this likely to have on any mortgage application?

Thanks in advance,

Scott

You need to change the addresses to where you live. It will impact on a mortgage application.
Life is not the way it’s supposed to be. It’s the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.

Worst case scenario, an inconvenience! Your current position should not stop you achieving a mortgage as the vast majority of lenders (if not all) require a 3 year residential history and this will pick up both addresses. However, use the electoral register address as your application address, and if there is sufficient time, switch address of one of your bank/credit card accounts.
