Tuesday 23rd July - What small DFW things will you do today?

my 2 teens stamping their feet at my refusal to get them a two for Tuesday Dominoes pizza - I have jacket potatoes and salad in mind!!0

Well done asp746. Even WITH the Tuesday offer, Domino's pizzas are very expensive compared to making pizzas yourself.....that's what we do now. Takeaway pizza is now just a very rare treat, but we still have a home-made one most weeks.
Bobarella - You are Queen Use-it-up!! Coffee stirrer sticks! Why didn't I think of that? I've got some as well, liberated from cafe to use as plant labels......we are in the middle of the most horrendous scary storm at the moment so can't get down the shed to fetch them, but will try them tomorrow morning. Thanks for the idea!
foxgloves x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Evening,
Unusually for me I've only just turned on my internet connection! Needed an off-grid day; think I might do it more often.
The list:
Went for a run in hammering rain; free entertainment/stress relief and very refreshing.
Cooked homemade pancakes, four for tomorrow's breakfast and four for the freezer.
Homemade pizza for tea.
Homemade cheesy-topped rolls.
Homemade banana cake.
Leftover everything+bean casserole for lunch.
Housing Association carpet un-fitter is coming tomorrow to peel back a carpet in one of the rooms that is having new central heating. Moved furniture around ourselves, didn't want to risk the workmen* pulling apart slightly shuggly/ricketty wardrobe. We've made it as stable as we can through DIY but it's still essentially cheap, flatpack rubbish!
Explained forcefully to neighbour that I will not be employing a professional gardener to improve our garden. No, our garden isn't as manicured as the rest of the street, but it is reasonable and I will not be pressurised into keeping-up-with-the-McDonalds for vanity's sake, especially not by someone whose lawn is currently full of dandelions! My OH calls this "practising my inner s*d off". The other day I honestly watched someone take two hours to mow a 10m x 10m totally flat lawn with no obstacles. That's madness. And every Friday this person does the same.
Arranged for tv aerial guy to come back again tomorrow. (Don't ask!)
Treat midgie bites with out-of-date antiseptic. (I doubt it'll be dangerous.)
Removed some moss from a path with hard work.
Received document I've been waiting for in the post that I need to hopefully get a benefit re-instated. Hurrah!
