I Wanna Chest of Drawers for £50

The drawers in my kids room have finally completely collapsed. Anyone know where I can get a chest of pine drawers for £50 or less? Minimum 4 drawers but the more the better. Have been scanning Ebay but they all want a small fortune in P&P.
Thanks,
TC

Do you drive, or have a friend/hubby/neighbour who does? then narrow your ebay search doen to 25miles and see what's available for collection.
Or try Freecycle in your area

Thanks Skint Catt. No joy at all with Ebay but have posted a begging email on Freecycle. I'd never heard of that before, it's great. Gonna get all my "too good to chuck" unwanted stuff on there & hopefully de-clutter so thanks again!

You'd be amazed what turns up on Freecycle. Also don't forget the Classified ad's in tha back of your local newspaper (esp if you geta free one). They are badly diminished by eBay but still worth a look!

Just had a thought - is it just the bottom of the drawers which has collapsed? You can get stretchy things to support the bottoms if it's just that.0

Thanks hun but it's the runners unfortunately :-( They were only cheap drawers with the plastic runners & they won't sit in the cabinet anymore. Begrudge getting expensive ones though for them to get drawn on, chunks taken out of em by toys etc. Kids!0

Ah fair enough!
Don't forget Ikea if there is one near you. I bought matching bedside tables for £10 - bargain city!

Yes definitely recommend Ikea. The Lakeside store/airport hanger had a display for many months at the front with all their cheap pine furniture. Great value liked Skint Catt says.0

I have this right now, it's easy to put together (took me about an hour on my own) and very sturdy and just under your budget!Just become FTBs & Aiming to be mortgage free by 2034

I think part of the problem is you dont want to pay a lot but the last lot had cheap sliders. pay a little more and get decent stuff and bollock the kids if they as so much go near them with a pen or hammer sorry a toy they decice to use as a hammer.
When i was a kid there was 2 ocassions when someone went to work with felt tip on any part of the house, the first was found later as it was on the inside of a cupboard door the other was on the stairs it wasnt me or any of my siblings it was a kid from down the street the kid was "told off" by my mum then when mum told the kids mum she said he always does it here but never did after my mum had a word with him.
If they wont treat their own stuff correctly then they wont give a s**t about anyone elses stuff what happens like in our case your kid does the same thing in someone elses house? nip it in the bud asap or you will be constantly replaceing trashed furniture and toys.
Sorry to have a go but hey.
Anyway Ikea are really cheap for sets of drawers but the cheap ones are made from chipboard and wont with stand the use of a kids hanging of the drawers or climbing up them. We have some of the TOVIK drawers from Ikea they are solid pine no chipboard so you can paint or varnish them which can be a method of covering up little van gough's latest masterpeice well paint will varnish wil give you a surface than can be wiped down but they are a lot more than you want to pay. but you get what you pay for. maybe have a look at the RAST drawers they are cheap and the web description says the drawers are pine. I have a bedside thing from the ANEBODA range and they are crap, it is also used as a desk for my laptop i sit in bed typeing which reminds me I need to get up, the edges where the coating is starting to bubble the runners are metal but are far from smooth running. the Tovik ones were easy to put together but you will need a bigger car to carry them home in as they are pretty large as they are in fewer peices.0
