Could anyone please explain to me how they work it out
The 30% rule says that a non-resident parent should pay 30% of his net pay by way of child support.
This carer allowance is reduced by 25% if the child is 11, 12 or 13, and by 50% if the child is 14 or 15 and stops at 16.
But they also say they can take 30% of my monthly income.
How would this work? if my payments got reduced because of age, then doesn't that mean they can make it back up to 30% as they are allowed to take 30%?
My child is 15 and a half years old and i never got 25% off or the 50% off.
I have just had my yearly payments letter through and it also doesn't stop at 16 years old.

You are on CS1 then. Having been on that I've never heard of those percentages.
I know Kelloggs36 can work out CS1 assessments and give general information.0 -
Hi it's on the direct gov site -
Your child maintenance assessment and help in meeting exceptional circumstances
This leaflet explains how they work out child maintenance for all child maintenance cases opened between 5 April 1993 and
2 March 2003, called ‘old scheme’ cases

This NACSA guide may help you:

The 30% figure is a maximum, not the prescribed amount. Your calculation might represent the maximum 30% of your income or it could end up at 10% or 17%. It's not a percentage based set of rules, but an allowances based one.I often use a tablet to post, so sometimes my posts will have random letters inserted, or entirely the wrong word if autocorrect is trying to wind me up. Hopefully you'll still know what I mean.0 -
The reduction in the Carers Allowance is indeed age related and comes into play when calculating the Maintenance Requirement - ie in an ideal world how much should the NRP pay. This is worked out by reference to the benefits system and comprises a personal allowance for the child, a family premium and a Carers allowance - basically the rate of benefit which would have been required for that child. When the child reaches 11, the Carers allowance element is reduced. It's is not that your maintenance liability necessarily reduces, but the aspirational MR. I suspect, unless you have high earnings, that you are not in a position to pay the full MR and therefore would not notice the reduction in the MR when your child attained age 11.0

First of all PWC and/or NRP, have to actually request a reassessment/review when the child/ren reach the ages which can change the allowance on maintenance required.
Did you request a reassessment at 11 or 14?
Does the PWC have more children with you? If so the allowance does not change and come into effect until the youngest child reaches 11yrs of age.
Does the PWC have other children with different NRP? If so the allowance stays at 50% per child from day 1, charged to each father until the closure of the case. So for instance, if first child is 15 and other is 1 - there will be NO changes throughout the whole of the case.
If PWC only has your child then report a change at 16 yrs and there'll be reassessment on Maintenance Required, Wages, Housing costs, etc.,
My assessment as PWC was never 30% of NRP's wages - the highest I was ever awarded was £150.00 pw but that was only 25% and that was in 2005.0
