Virgin Media :(

Have been with NTL/Virgin for 6 years, on quite a good deal with them, however we are moving house in a couple of weeks, so just tried to arrange to switch it over to new property on move day but even though the house is in a servicable area this is the only house on the street which is not servicable due to the water board going through a cable at some point.

Really annoyed as they said i can go 'off-cable' and still have broadband and the phone and this would be £20 p/m but i would then have to include bt's line rental (£11), £31 for 2mb broadband and phone, i don't think so......

Don't know what to do as if i got the same package with Sky it would cost me £13 a month dearer (including bt line rental)

Any advice???

hi, if the whole street is cabled up, i am prettu sure that they should be able to run a cable from one of the either adjoining houses, or from the street. have they sent an engineer out? it may be worth getting one out and then getting them to send their manager out...sometimes it seems that you have to push really hard with them, but persistence does eventually pay off...

call sky. tell them you're about to move house and you're currently with vm and are weighing up your options. DON'T tell sky that the new place can't get it.

sky will prob match it.
