Makeover party

My daughter will be 9 and wants a makeup party. I priced up one locally and it was £96 for 8 girls and I would still have to do food and party bags!! I don't think that is very money saving!!
So I am planning on doing it myself with 18 yr old neice and her friend to help out. It's in a few weeks time (30th June as that's the only night the girls could make until the school hols!)
So does anyone have any ideas and cheapish ones for the party including decorations food what is reasonable to try and do in the time etc etc???
I think 8 girls is about the right amount and think we could manage make up, nails and a temporary tatoo each and maybe some sort of hait thing???
All your ideas will be appreciated,
thank you

Hi - I did this for my daughters 10th birthday. We did basic make-up (eyeshadow, bit of lip gloss and mascara for those who wanted it), put hair up in buns, plaits etc and had straighteners and angel curls to hand for a bit of pizzazz (sp?) and then glittery nail varnish. There were three of us - one doing each 'section' set up in the kitchen and then in out living / dining room we had a dance mat for them to use while others were being 'done'
As for food, I think from memory it was good old pizza and fizzy drinks then ice-cream with lots of sweeties and sprinkles and sauce (bit like Pizza Hit ice-cream factory).
Claires Accessories do really good 'goody' bags which you can sometimes get hold of on a bogof - if not how about nail varnish / lip gloss etc from somewhere like Superdrug as a mini lucky dip?
Finally, we took photos of them all dressed up and then tahnk you notes had a picture of themselves on the front!
Good luck - we had a fab day0 -
Afriad I'm not very good with these sort of girlie nights, but you might want to consider having something for the girls to do after the makeover... you don't want it all to be done and dusted within half an hour and then have nothing for them to do! might be worth getting a DVD in for them to watch or maybe have a little disco? The High School Musical DVD seems popular at the moment with that age group?????
What about some girlie mags they can have a look through for ideas/inspiration while they wait for their treatments???
Could you make some homemade face packs? If you search the forums I'm sure there is a thread somewhere on homemade beauty treatments.
Good luck and sounds like fun! Can't wait for my little girl to be old enough for this sort of thing...maybe she could give me some tips!0 -
If you have a poundland near you they had last week some fantastic nail jewellery that u just glue on with clear nail varnish.....also some really nice packs of false nails and nail varnishes. We bought some for our girls youth group as we are running a health and beauty workshop atm. The girls had a fab time.

When my daughters were younger I did a similar thing..but afterwards we had a fashion show.
In the dining room I had a clothes rail full of clothes (old bits and pieces and some things I bought from car boots for pennies), feather boas, different hats, scarfs etc and cheap tatty jewellery. I bluetacked a huge gold star on the door with the words "stars changing room".
We then turned off all the lights in the lounge apart from table lamps and had a disco ball going in the corner. We played funky music and I then introduced the girls as they came in..giving them comical/weird names and describing the outfits...it was rather a hoot. In fact in the end they changed the fashion show into a talent show and they all started doing little turns too.
How about trying for freebie samples and giving them mini goody bags?0 -
ohh poundland are doing pink feather boas for yes a pound

hi i did a makeover party for my 8yr old daughter at home, we set up chairs with a towel etc and used a couple of foot spa's and gave them a mini pedicure (filing, moisturiser etc and paint nails). Then we did a makeover with the cheap eyeshadows and let them pick their colours, lipgloss and a bit of blusher. (Don't bother with mascara it's too messy and prob too young anyway). I also did manicures, same as feet - then afterwards had a little disco thing and after the pizza and chips (tesco value frozen pizza 49p each and value frozen oven chips also cheap) I did design your own t-shirt. Got value white t-shirts from tesco and a couple of packs of fabric pens - they loved it. Kept them busy and as I did a competition for best design they all had their heads bent and focused so no screaming or running wild!!
