                    Hello,
I have had a hunt on the forum for an answer to this but I think I just need some peace-of-mind.
I'm currently employed full time and pay tax in the normal PAYE way.
However, I will also be joining another employer which I will need to complete a SA for each year.
Now, this is where it gets a bit complicated for me. Officially I'm not an employee but a "partner" in the partnership. This is the e-mail received:

So I hope that someone can justclarify this.

When it comes to registering for self-assessment, isit this section that applies to me?

I've only ever dealt with HMRC regards PAYE before and don't want to muck things up.
Any help/advice greatly appreciated.

You need to explain to HMRC that you are
a Partner in a partnership and not simply working a second job. It is not sufficient to just get the tax code adjusted, we need you to have a Unique Tax Reference so that we can file the partnership tax return and provide you with a copy of their part of the return to include in
their self assessement.
So I hope that someone can justclarify this.

If you're not the nominated partner, you
still need to register as a partner in the
business. HMRC will use the information you send to set up the right Self Assessment and National
Insurance records for you.
You can do this online. It will help if you have information about the partnership to hand before
you start, for example:
* address and postcode
* Partnership Unique Taxpayer
Reference
Company registration number (if
registered with Companies House)
Register online as a partner for Self
Assessment and National Insurance contributions.
I've only ever dealt with HMRC regards PAYE before and don't want to muck things up.
Any help/advice greatly appreciated.
