Does anyone know of anywhere I can find matching (or similar styles but matching colours) dresses for and adult bridesmaid and 5 year old flower girl? Not having much luck so far!! Asked in wedding shop but they don't do them and have looked online but can't seem to find anything!

  • Why don't you have them made from a material you have picked. There are a lot of really good dressmakers around.

Can't you have the 5 year old in white and pick up the older bridesmaid colour with a sash?

Quite a lot of the big bridesmaid dress brands do this, or the dresses with the white skirt and top in the colour of the adult bridesmaid dress - I know Dessy do, and certainly a few of the others. If the shop where you bought your dress doesn't do them try looking at other wedding dress shops in the area, chances are somewhere will stock them!

Dressmaker is a good idea too.

Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")
Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")
  • Thanks for the ideas. I did look at dresses in BHS the other day but didn't find any I liked to be honest.

Might have a look in to dressmakers, the only problem is my sister ( bridesmaid) is in New Zealand so won't be able to get her fitted for it!

Could your sister have her dress made in NZ? Find a pattern you like, plus colour swatches, then send them out there. The dressmaker out there could find material similar to the ones you like. She could then send a bolt of the same cloth back for a flowergirl's sash.
  • I'll ask her to see if she can find any and see if that's an option.i find it made how it's so hard to find any though!!

  • I've found somewhere online that does adult and children's in the same fabric, they're called dessy. Only thing is it's American and they make dresses to order and can take 16 weeks which is cutting it too fine if any adjustments are needed. Anybody know of a uk company that does this?

Quite a few UK wedding shops stock Dessy dresses so they should be able to order them in for you. Link to the store finder: http://www.dessy.com/storefinder/ (they have options to search for UK stockists and those in NZ as well) or just type 'Dessy bridesmaid dresses' and your postcode into Google.
