GU Chocolate Puddings

Options
Yesterday my DS bought some GU Chocolate Puddings for us. They were delish. I am sure I can remember a recipe at some time for a chocolate pudding where you mixed it all together and the cake part rose above the sauce, and was very similar. Can anyone help me with a recipe for something similar?

Thanks

One on Nigellas website from a member on the site http://www.nigella.com/recipes/recipe.asp?article=2573

It's not the same as Nigella's that she makes with the choccy etc but will try to find that one, if I could only remember what she called it, I've even bought the ingredients for it.http://www.leitesculinaria.com/recipes/cookbook/sticky_choc_pudding.html think it might be that one.

    Hi there

I have just spotted this in one of my mags..

    chocolate mousse cake -
line and butter a 23 cm /9" springform tin -serves 8...ye right LOL
    prep 30 mins plus cooling
    cook 40-45 mins
    oven 160cfan/140c/gas3

350g dark choc (70%) broken into smal pieces
    225g unsalted butter
    5 eggs
    300g golden caster sugar
100g broken shortbread or butter biscuits

put choc and butter in a pan and melt over a very low heat.
    set aside
using an electric whisk beat the eggs with the sugar for about 5 mins until thick and pale..nd doubled in volume
pour choc mix into egg mix and gently fold through
    add biscuit and gently fold
pour into prepared ton and bake for 40-45 mins until just firm
remove from oven and cool for about 1/2 -3/4 hr
if you eat it warm the middle is all gooey
if you leave it to chill (haha)..it goes firm n fudgy and cuts into wedges easier.
They serve it with blueberries n cream
Its not exactly a money saving recipe...but we deserve a treat now n then dont we :-)

I love Gu puddings, it's one of my few non OS indulgences, about once a month. The choccy one that can be frozen and then microwaved form frozen is soooo easy.. and the coffee chocolate one...mmmm... And the Gu brownies that have to be kept in the fridge...

Mmmm...Gu seem to be on offer about once every 4-6 months in Sainsbury's, and go down from ~£2.50 to altogether reasonable prices (for treats - £1.76 for two pots of something isn't too bad occasionally!). I love the chocolate vanilla cheesecakes, and the souffles are divine.

    Thriftylady's

First find a cup that holds 8 fl oz of liquid(a US cup measure)

Grease a shallow baking dish - about 9'' by 13''

    Sift together
    1 cup plain flour
    2 tsp baking powder
    1 tsp salt
    ⅔ cup sugar
    2 tbsp cocoa

    add
    ½ cup milk
2 tbsp melted butter or marge
    1 tsp vanilla extract(optional)

Mix until just smooth, then spoon into the baking dish.

    Mix together
    4 tbsp cocoa
1 cup soft brown sugar(light or dark)

    Sprinkle over batter in dish.
Pour over all 1 ½ cups of just-boiled water - DO NOT STIR

Bake for 40 mins at 180c
    Serve warm with whipped cream......yummmy
When it's cooked there will be a thick fudgy sauce a the bottom of the pudding and a cakey bit on top. It's nice with some instant coffee(about a dessert spoon) added to the cocoa and sugar bit
One day I might be more organised...........

This the best chocolate pudding ever! Mostly, I think - apart from the stunning chocolate-y, fudgy taste - because it looks so unpromising when you pour the water over the top, in that 'yeah right, this'll never work...' sort of way.

I ran out of cocoa powder when it came to doing the pour over the top bit, so used about 1-2 tblsp cocoa and 2 squares of finely grated 70% chocolate - this came out just fine.

Although I shall, of course, have to remake it with the full cocoa powder topping, just for research purposes...
