Hi
There are loads of details on here about cheap food, so I won't go there, but, and this will prob sound really sad, when I was really broke I would play the save to save game. That's where my name comes from.
Whenever I found a way to genuinely save some money I would put it aside and use it for something that saved me more money. So, for example if I walked or got a lift instead of getting the bus, or my husband worked from home so saved petrol money or a friend gave me something I would otherwise have had to buy etc I would only use that money if it saved more. So I bought something on 2 for 1 or to buy something for Xmas that was on offer now. I kept count of what I saved and it made it fun (well slightly).hope this helps0 -

Hi
I know what it is like being on a low income, and that extra £20 or so a week makes a huge difference, even when to some it may seem like nothing.
How many people are in your household?
How much do you currently spend on grocery shopping? (by this I mean all food, alcohol, toiletries, cleaning stuff)
Have you checked you are getting all of the best deals on your gas, electric etc?
What about anything like Sky TV? Mobile phone contracts? Can cut backs be made on any of these at all? eg. we have just freeview, and are currently on a free internet with BT, just paying for phoneline for the time being, any way you can change provider and get a deal like this? Ok hun, firstly, don't panic. I genuinely do know what it is like to be in your situation - we are currently on £60 a month less than what the government class as the minimum a family of 2 adults and 2 children can manage on, yet this is still a lot better off than we were this time last year.
Firstly, what I would suggest is write down every bit of your current income, include everything you get in.
Then write down all of you outgoings on bills, including every bill you have and the debt repayments
Then work out what you spend on petrol each week in the car
Then see exactly what is left.
Then, if you possibly have the time, write down EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING you have food wise in the house, and then do the same for toiletries and cleaning products, and roughly how much of each is left. eg. half bottle shampoo etc.
Then, if you can, post it on here, and I am sure myself and others will help sort out a realistic budget for stuff that will work for you.
Also, does any of your family have any special dietary needs at all, or any particular foods they don't like?
Also, do you do any "extra" money earning things such as dooyoo reviews, surveys, ebay selling, car boots etc?Mum of 2 monkey. 4 yrs and 2 yrs :j
