I just dyed an old playsuit with the Dylon dye. It was green and white but i didn't really like the pattern, and after dying it with black dylon it is now green and grey, and looks like its been accidently put it in with the dark washing  . How can I make it black?

You used the wrong type of dye. Knowing the fabric content is a starting point for which dye to use, but that doesnt necessarily mean the pattern or sewing thread is created using the same material
If the green hasnt changed colour at all then it is most likely 100% synthetic (and difficult/impossible to change), but the white turning grey, could be polycotton, as theres been light resistance
Which type of dylon did you use?0 -
Thank you for replying!
It is 100% polyester, and I used the Dylon 'wash and dye'. Is there another dye I could use?
Thanks in advance!0 -
Flea72 is right synthetics like polyester are hard to dye. You could try a disperse dye they work on polyester but I have only managed pastel shades. Look at craft website George Weil they have lots of advice on dyeing fabric and they are reliable to order from in my experience.Every Penny's a prisoner :T0

For polyester i use iDye poly. I buy from dharmatrading.com in the US as it works out cheaper than buying in UK, but delivery can take a bit longer0
