Chedder cheese that has gone dry and hard

I was wondering if I can still use it in a recipe if anyone knows?
It's not mouldy or anything but its gone dry and hard and I could do with some extra cheese in the recipe I am cooking
Does anyone know if it would actually melt or just stay hard and be horrible and chewy?
Thanks!

It will melt into your sauce or whatever but may not be quite so good if you try to grill it.Slimming World at target0

NEED to remember to start grating and freezing it so thanks for reminding me pigpen0 -
I'd make a cheese sauce with it
You could make cauli cheese, macaroni cheese, lasagne etc with it.
