When to bake cake?

I'm baking a 7 tier rainbow cake for my grandsons birthday party tomorrow (Sunday).
It's hot!
When do I bake the cake?
Best would be tomorrow morning at the crack of dawn, but if I have a problem there's not much contingency time!!!!
If I make the 7 sponge layers I guess I could wrap them in cling film?
Would they sweat like hell?
No larder or cold spot :-(

As long as the cakes are completely cool, then I don't think they'll sweat too badly if you wrap them up. Cake layers do freeze well, so if you have the freezer space that might be an option. They're also easier to ice after being frozen. If I were confident with the recipe, I'd do it the morning of, but if I'd never done it before then I'd probably opt for the night before.0

Sounds lovely MrsE
I would make it tomorrow if I had total confidence, but if you are wary maybe cook it tonight and wrap in clingfilm. As long as the recipe is a moist sponge recipe it should be fine
Do let us know how it goes
ill merge this with baking quick questions later
ZipA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Personally I would bake it today and wrap it in foil. We hear so many scary stories now about cling film actually touching food.
Foil will keep it moist and fresh.
Can we have a piccie tomorrowmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
