Hovis's sneaky loaf size change

Has anyone else noticed that, under the guise of new packaging and a recipe change, the size of Hovis Best of Both has gone from 800g to 750g. Needless to say the price has stayed the same! I only found out because I overheard the staff in Sainsbury's discussing it. I checked the packaging left over from last week's loaf against the one I bought today and sure enough it was 50g lighter, but both loaves cost £1.35.
What a swizz!

This has been happening for a long time now, it is not just bread; all product makers do this ostensibly because of rising costs but we know different.
Size/weight/quality goes down but prices stay the same or even rise."Don't blink. Blink and you're dead. They are fast. Faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink. Good Luck" - The Doctor.0 -
£1.35 for 1 loaf?! You can get 2 in Farmfoods for £1.50. Our local store had the Best of Both in stock yesterday.2013 wins: Persil Bunny0

Don't buy Hovis then! It's hugely overpriced when there are perfectly good own brands in stores. It's a well documented fact wheat prices have soared, so it's either a weight reduction or a price increase that needs to happen to cover it.We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0

I just bought a packet of weetabix for the first time in about 7 years - they're TINY!! I remember when 2 Weetabix was sufficient. I just had 3 and I'm still hungry!“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. I have 2 Weetabix and that's enough for me. The kids have 1 and a half.
One thing we did notice last night while shopping was how much the size of Wham bars have gone down, they are so tiny now!Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £30,358.130 -

They were 10p in the early 90s and now 25p! Plus you don't get as many green and yellow blobby things on them - the best bit.
I get more value for money getting a bag of mini Wham, Irn Bru bars and others for £1 in Poundstretchers etc.0 -
Remember Wagon Wheels! When I was a child they were big enough to share!0

I was surprised to read this, as I always thought that bread had to be baked in multiples of 400g. But apparently the law changed back in 2008!

During Henry lll's reign, bakers would have their hands chopped off for short-changing customers with their bread.
