I get a little paranoid after eating something sweet which isn't often but mostly straight after a meal if I do. And all I want to do is brush my teeth straight away but I know you should wait.
How long should you wait? Is it ok to do a quick mouth wash rinse while you wait til its ok to brush? I just drink lots of water after and push it around my mouth. And what about flossing?

Thanks all

My routine right now is this:
brush first thing,
then if i'm at home once again in the afternoon
and at night i brush, rinse, floss and then do a very quick brush again without rinsing to leave the toothpaste in at night. I hear thats good.
Is this ok?
Also best toothpaste? Need a very good protecting and cleaning one. Keep readong pronamel is great. Exact one?

If you excessively brush your teeth, you'll probably end up making them too sensitive. Also, I'm pretty sure that its 2 hours between eating and brushing.I only brush my teeth twice a day, once first thing, and then again straight before bed at night, mouthwash both times and I never have any problems with my teeth - and I eat a hell of a lot of gummy sweets, chocolate and fruit!!Also, if you want something sweet but are worried about your teeth, then eat strawberries as they are a natural teeth whitener and remove stains.

Also, I don't think that all that brushing is any good for your gums. Ever heard of receded gums?

    I don't think there's a 'right time', exactly.

You're not supposed to brush too soon after eating, or too soon before. As far as I'm concerned, there are so few entirely suitable times that it's not really worth thinking about.

Personally, I tend to eat my breakfast (fruit) at 8ish, and brush my teeth at about 10am. The second time is early to mid afternoon, around 3pm usually. These are the times that are furthest away from any meals, which is what I aim for, but I know some would be shocked that I then go on to eat in the evening and don't brush again.

Still, like hgotsparkle, aside from a cavity caused by two teeth being pushed together due to my mouth being too small (so not related to dental hygiene), I have perfect teeth.

I'd say not to worry about it. It seems that every time is the wrong time to brush.
