Possibly a stupid Twitter question...

Hello.
You know when you "retweet" a competition tweet on Twitter and how some people just copy and paste the tweet into a new tweet? Will the company still know that you've entered if you do that?
I know it sounds like a stupid question, but when you retweet, it says who you've retweeted and the company would know, whereas with copying and pasting, I'm not sure how the company would know that you've entered.
I hope that makes sense.

If when you copy and past you say something like "RT @XYZbeauty just follow and retweet to win some perfume", then XYZbeauty would know you had tweeted this because it would show up in their mentions.0

If they selected winners the simplest way it would just be from the list of those who have retweeted and while they could search through their mentions a copy and paste is not a retweet. (That's not to say they don't look at mentions but they wouldn't have to)0

If the competition says to retweet then why on earth would you not just follow the instructions and retweet?
If you copy and paste instead then why should they even both to put in the extra work to find your copied and pasted version?0 -

Thank you. I asked because, when I've done that before, it says that I am over the character limit when I "tag" them in the tweet. If they selected winners the simplest way it would just be from the list of those who have retweeted and while they could search through their mentions a copy and paste is not a retweet. I never copy and paste tweets, personally. It's just that some people believe you stand a better chance if you do that rather than retweeting. It was merely a wondering as to how they would know. I personally just prefer to retweet.2019 Wins

I think, from looking at what others do, that when people C&P they often RT as well. Often they will C&P as a reply to the original tweet, this is possibly because it's been mentioned (and I don't know how true it is) that companies can only see a certain amount of RTs - C&P in reply will still show up no matter how many RTs a post has, also it kind of stands out more IMO. I don't bother normally because I'm too lazy, my main reason for liking Twitter is the speed and ease of whizzing through competitions - I don't want to sit there C&Ping everything over and over as it takes the very thing I like about Twitter comps awayA closed mouth gathers no feet.0

Copying and pasting a tweet with the RT at the front is called a manual retweet and normally still counts. xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
