I am a techno duffer so please any help appreciated, can i connect my PC and my PS2 to this screen and will it work?
Also do i have to buy a tv tuner to watch tv through or can i connect a sky box to it direct and it will show pictures??
Seems like a good deal I have bought from aria before and they were sound, best buy was TFT 17" for my folks and it only had one dead pixel which was top left corner.0 -
not very sound at paying me my postage back. It's a very good monitor, but the warranty is terrible and it's refurbished, which Aria don't tell you.
This looks a better bet as you get a proper warranty, and normal screen is better than wide screen for games (not DVD's though)

"the warranty is terrible and it's refurbished"
The details on the Aria web site state that it is new and not refurbished.
Although Aria say it only has a 12 month warranty as standard, for a monitor costing £350 I am sure that consumer law would still protect us after that time. Surely any reasonable person would be right to expect a monitor costing that much to last a lot longer?
Like j_dlaw I also went for one of these. I pondered for ages with it in my basket before signing up for the dead pixel check and taking the gamble on it being okay.
I bought a 17" from Aria last summer for £200+VAT and its been fine. I am worried because of all I have read, but I cannot afford a 2005fpw from Dell and I can't afford the 24" which I would really like. At £299 (I can claim the VAT back) I just hope I get a good one and hope that if it is fine for the 1st year & then nothing much will go wrong. At least until future prices have dropped so low that 24" ones cost less than a round of beers!

PS the sig below is nothing to do with me - looks like a hangover from the web site upgrade. Who's Steve?0 -

Don't get me wrong, if your monitor is fine, then you've got yourself a bargain. I was prepared to take the risk, but when you add up the costs of returning the monitor if anything goes wrong and whether or not Aria are lying about it being new or refurbished (the original link suggests they are refurbished, as does the 1 year warranty), then I decided the risks were a wee bit too high for me. If you get a monitor with no problems then enjoy your superb monitor. If I didn't have to pay vat, then I would have taken the risk too.Titch0

You can connect both yes!!
In order to connect your PS2 you'll need a PS2 s-video cable which will give you the best results... (It has component inputs too but s-vid is better for quality)
I use one with my 2005fpw and the quality is very good. You can change a setting in the monitor which basically gets the image to stretch and fill the screen otherwise if you use a 1:1 ratio, because the PS2 is so low res it only fills a small part of the screen (But obviously looks fantastic and very crisp but too small for playing games really!!)
Good luck

that monitor is the non widescreen model. the monitor in question is the 2005FPW which is about £550 on dells website0 -
Aria like to think you are not covered by the Distance Selling Act or the Sales of Goods Act. I am going through trading Standards and my credit card company.
The non-legal staff are advising me that the Terms and Conditions I checked signs my rights away. They obviously do not know the law.
I am taking this further with them. IMO they are corrupt. Beware.
Dell are pretty good all round and in my experience very honest. Dell is worth the extra money.
Aria are a nasty piece of work.0 -
As promised, here is my verdict on the Dell 20" widescreen monitor from Aria. OK, at 350 pounds it's obviously a great buy price wise.
I ordered on the 22nd and it arrived on the 26th, with a weekend in between that's a nice quick delivery time.
At the time of writing, I've only had one evening to use it but I'm very happy so far. It looks new to me with no signs of it being a refurbished model. The best thing about it is I could not find a single dead pixel, I guess I was simply lucky on this as I did not pay the extra for a dead pixel check.
Problem wise, I do notice the well known problem of backlight leakage at the corners. I only noticed this when the screen was mostly black while watching a DVD. For me this is not a big issue as I'm using the computer for computing and not as a media center.
Overall I'm happy with this purchase and with Aria's good price and quick delivery.0 -
Course if we lived in the States we'd be able to get this beauty for around £260! grrrr! :-)
