Reluctant to confirm if VAT included in quote

I am wanting to take out a 3 year lease (PCP) on a car and am pleased with the quotation.
However, when I ask the lease company to confirm if the quote is inclusive of VAT, an email is sent confirming that yes it is inclusive.
I am nervous as they are not making reference to VAT on the order form and do not want a nasty surprise when I receive the final paperwork, having paid £200 to reserve the car.
If I subsequently find out VAT is not included int eh quote and pull out, I will lose the £200. WHat should I do? WHy won't they clarify this on the order form and would an email confirming this be proof positive?
Thanks

Having looked at other leasing sites, I would think the cost is going to be EXCLUSIVE of VAT as the ones I have looked at quote net + VAT if it's for personal use but INCLUSIVE if it's a business deal.

    Thanks HTH - that's what I'm expecting.
However, as I am buying the car as a private individual for use on business, would this qualify for the VAT inclusive one?
Me thinks I already know the answer!

I think so- judging by what you said already.

    Good luck

  • I think you're getting two ways of funding a vehicle confused:

PCP - Personal contract purchase you are actually purchasing the vehicle over normally 3 years with a guaranteed residual value at the end, Basically Hire Purchase with a balloon on the end, You can either pay off the balloon at the end or hand the vehicle back to finance company and walk away.
As you are purchasing the vehicle the VAT will be quoted in the cost price of the car therefore the monthly payments will be included

PCH - Personal contract hire you are basically renting the vehicle for the 3 years and at the end the vehicle is handed back to the finance house. Contract hire is normally for companies who can claim the a % of the VAT for each rental back so payments are normally quoted without the VAT. However as a private individual you would have to pay all the VAT so this would have to be added to the monthly payment

Speak to the company see what the method actually is

    Hope this Helps
