halifax mortgage renewal fees

every few years i jump out of my mortgage fixed rate into a new fixed rate. this year i remortgaged with the same co halifax bank and put myself into a five year fixed rate . i phoned up halifax regarding fees which was 699 after reading about them on this web site but halifax said the refund does not apply to remortgaging with the same co. can someone tell me if this is correct thankyou

i remortgaged with the halifax a couple of years ago and have just received a cheque for £75 for mortgage exit fee that i was overcharged. worth another phonecall i would have thought

The £699 you paid was a product/application fee for the fixed rate on offer & these fees are not refundable as you pay them to secure a favorable interest rate on the chosen mortgage.

Mortgage exit fees are what you can claim for & if you were charged more for the exit fee than you signed for on your previous mortgage then you can ask them to refund the difference.
