They dont grow bigger, but they do grow less flexible.

Arthur Ritis starts to set in etc.

I used to be double jointed and could fold my fingers back over my hand to be horizontal/parallel with it. Now I struggle to get them to bend back 90 degrees.

I have found that a wired xbox controller is excellent so will be looking for one of them, my son can have his back then :)

I too suffer from an arthritic finger and do wonder if this is from years of gaming, in years to come us long life gamers will be able to recognise each other from our clawed hands:D
I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.

Just rearrange the keys to how your brain works and what fits your fingers best. :D

I re-map most of the keys for my particular preferences.

I use SAXD (in place of WASD) because I find the W key uncomfortable to use with A & D, so then X replaces S as backwards/reverse. W becomes free for something else.

I also change other keys as in my brain if I want to, say, jump....then logically I want to move upwards so I use R. Now R is usually for Reload but I re-map that to the middle mouse button so a quick push downwards reloads weapons.
Crouch is re-mapped to SPACE (a downward movement)
    ....and so on....

Having a 5-button mouse helps as it gives you more options for remapping keys ;)

I now have one of these:

For when I need a keyboard for gaming.

Old but nice big buttons and in just the right places.

And I'm getting myself a wired xbox controller for most of the time.
