Help! too may ideas... not enough ideas...

I am in such a dilemma, my Fiance and I are set on getting married this year, my family live in Canada and his here in England. I am trying to arrange a date around the time when my family can be here. So we have picked 20th December 2007.
So that should make my family happy?? No!! All I get is why can't we go over there!
Everyone seems to have ideas for our wedding and their ideas are always the best obviously!!
Me myself, well I cannot decide where to start, it's this massive task in front of me!
We are trying to do this on a very strict budget and I have sat here and gone over everyones ideas and they all sound really good, but... I just don't know how to get started! And I just want it to be the best day and everyone to be happy!

Organise your wedding how you want it,not how everyone else does. The most important thing is that you and OH are happy. Try not to worry about what everyone else wants. We organised our wedding (and paid for) by ourselves. Thankfully our families didnt try to take over at all so we were very lucky.

Its really not that big a task either, its only as big as you make it. We set a date of just over a year ahead and I had everything booked and organised within a month.

OK, and calm! It's honestly not as immense as you think it's just huge because you're trying to squish the whole thing into your brain in one go! Just start with the big things, date, venue (civil or church), reception place, frock. The home in on the finer details of each section. Make lots of notes, and I recommend making a spreadsheet of your budget :-)

And relax, trust me, everything went wrong for our wedding but we got through it married and relatively unscathed!

  • Sensible advice here. Now then, if they want a holiday to Canada they can blinking well have a holiday to Canada some other time!!!! Honestly, I have NEVER told anyone what to do for their wedding and I can't believe all the stress that so many brides have in trying to please everyone. It's YOUR wedding, so you do what you please. Everyone else has the opportunity to do what they like when they get married. Nuff said!

Well I am now more calm, the registry office is booked for 20th December, so now I have to start organising a reception and a meal somewhere. I have decided that everyone can have their own 10 pence worth but what we wants is what matters. The difference two days makles is amaing I was sooo stressed! Now i am looking forward to it!
Thank you for all your help guys! :T
