Does anyone else get these? With the Mango smoothie and the Strawberry & Banana smoothie ones it says to mix with 250ml of orange juice but that seems quite expensive to be having every day, and with the other flavours such as Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry and Raspberry, it says to mix with skimmed milk but does anyone know if you could just supplement these with water instead? I know it says to use either fruit juice or milk to get the right amount of nutrients from one drink but water seems to be a healthier option that downing loads of acidic fruit juice. Even a diary product seems counter productive even if it is skimmed!

I have never tried them in sachets but have used the ready made shake and the powder tin just mixed with skimmed milk. Never would have thought to use water with it, perhaps it takes the milk to blend it better or something?0

My advice is this.... Just make your own shakes.
I've been drinking my own for months and I don't skip meals I just have them as snacks and I've seen a great amount of weight fall off my legs and love handles, my face and stomach too.
I also work out but for the last 3 weeks I haven't been able to work out and still I haven't gained back the weight.
I think you should find something you can keep to forever because if you move abroad or Tescos stop making these then you're back to square one.
My shake I drink is mostly this:
MORNING SHAKE: Kale, spinach, half an avocado, half a grapefruit, big spoonful of O yogurt (any natural no sugar one will do) and it goes down a treat.
AFTERNOON OR DINNER SHAKE: Kale, spinach, half an avocado (optional) broccolli, cottage cheese (YES IT SOUNDS WEIRD Tastes great though)
Blend each shake and drink. Simple. Blend very well though because the junks can be hard to get to. Also don't juice you lose fiber in doing so.
In between I just eat normal, portion control. CUT OUT ALLLLLLL junk and sugar you don't need it. If you crave sweet put some grapes in the freezer when they are hard they taste like sweets.
And I also have 1-2 protein shakes through out the day
These are great for the skin too, my skins been better, I also drink around 2.3 litres water a day.
Look up Green shakes. You will find many mnay recepies
And smoothie ones too0 -
Thats great advice zarak, thanks.Do you find buying the ingredients for the shakes expensive? I know kale is fairly cheap.I don't earn much and tend to spend just under £40 per week on groceries between my OH and me and don't really want to be going over that - as I know he won't have these shakes with me.0

The large bags of Kale, Spinach are around 1 pound each. Avocado is the most expensive thats where I get stingy so you can replace it with cottage cheese(protein) or some almonds(good fat) frozen blueberries (tescos do a big box for cheap fresh go bad too quick). Look up good
Grapefruits... sainsburys usually have a 3 for a pound.
You can get good deals on fruit and veg in Aldi I hear but I haven't been yet.
Try markets too, coz they have good offer ''4 for a paaaaand'' lol
It may be squeezing on your budget a bit but just do some research on lacal markets etc and smaller brand stores and you may find a good deal.
Also I wouldn't have more than 2 shakes a day. Either as snack or if I replace dinner then it's because I have had a big lunch. I tend to go a bit backwards. My meals get smaller as the sunsets. Breakfast and lunch are my biggest and dinner is usually a shake and some type of protein.
The bags of kale and spinach usually make around 4-5 shakes. That's becasue I drink a HUGE glass
Maybe you can cut some desserts or high sugar foods out of your weekly shop for these. I stopped buying ice cream for avocados lol and sugary yogurts for greek sugar free ones.
Just see what you can give up because if you want to get healthy and lose weight then you can't have a shake and then have cake or some high sugar dessert. Sacrifice
Sorry got a bit long here.
Basically look up avocado(good fats) alternatives because THAT is where the most money goes.Other wise the prices shouldn't be too much. Feel free to ask me anythng else about weight loss. I'm no expert my I have gotten result from non drastic diets and exercise.
Just see what budget you can have and find things that fit into that0 -
Oh and for short term.... if you buy the shakes from tescos mix it with water. I don't see a problem except maybe taste. I drink my protein with water. I don't know anything about these shakes so I'm just guessing.
But never ever use shakes as a meal replacement. They are great snacks and quick fixes for hunger only. Always make sure you have 2-3 meals a day. I say 2-3 because some people really don't eat a lot my stomach feels full after one shake and some toast0 -
I tend to only have one of these shakes a day, as a substitute for lunch whilst at work as I rarely get time to take my lunch break, but I always make sure I either have some muesli (sp?) with yoghurt or wholemeal toast with jam for breakfast and then a filling meal, for example last night I had grilled salmon fillet with couscous, and some chopped cucumber and peppers.
I have been meaning to buy myself a blender so I think I should really commit to it now and make my own shakes.0 -
