csa arrears

I am on the old style csa rules because my child is 15 years old now, so i have to pay carer's allowance so the csa told me until my child is 16 years old.
I pay more for carers allowance then i do for the child maintenance.
My payments is nearly £450 a month all together.
My name is not on the birth certificate and i was not married to my ex. She spilt up with me before my son was born and i was told she slept around so i had doubts he was mine.
I was not allowed anywhere near them and was threatened by her and her family to stay away.
I asked the csa for dna tests many of times and was told i was not allowed them because the mother did not agree to it but they carried on taking payments from my employer, this went of for a while.
I then lost my job and did not pay for a while and had arrears on all my csa letters. I then got a full time job and they wanted me to pay £800 a month for the csa and the arrears.
When i finally went through a solicitor to get the dna test which cost me a good couple of thousand pounds the arrears disappeared on the csa letters and showed up as £0.00 arrears.
If she agreed to dna test i could of paid her the couple of thousand pounds in one lump sum but she didn't agree to it.
Have they written off the arrears? what has happened to it?
If the letter shows as £0.00 arrears can they change there minds later on after the carers allowance finishes.
I do not have contact with my son as she as twisted his mind against me which has really upset me but since he is now 15 i don't think it would be fair to go court and make him see me if he don't want to.
