Powerful Hi-Spec PC just £ 749.99 at Aldi

Hi

I bought a previous model of this PC last year and see that Aldi are doing it again:

For anyone looking for a high-end consumer PC that caters for all their multimedia entertainment/production needs (as well as net surfing and the usual) then i can heartily recommend this beast.

I'll admit that this time last year I was dubious about spending £750 on my debit card at a budget supermarket but took the plunge and haven't looked back. in fact every piece of PC hardware i now own came from the Medion brand at Aldi. I've not found cheaper anywhere else and their (UK based) customer service helpline was second to none (on the one occasion i needed to call them).

It doesn't come with a monitor, speakers, scanner or printer but i just used my old ones until they released their special offer versions... and i didn't have to wait long.

As I say, it's a top end PC so might not be a bargain for everyone but those who can't afford a Mac won't be disappointed.

P.S. I saw the Microsoft Works Suite (which comes included) in WHSmith for £110 a few months back. I'm sure if you compare prices on it's various components you'll see what an absolute bargain this is.

it's a beauty!

Not too bad, not that cheap though, and OEM software doesn't cost the manufacturer much anyway. You do get quite a bit of kit with it, but I'm not sure whether I would consider it a bargain. It probably is fairly good value.
No reliance should be placed on the above.

I agree it is "only" fairly good value.

Each additional occasion Lidl and Aldi have sold PCs (this is now the 5th or 6th) the speed at which they have flown off the shelves has diminished and the number of people queuing outside the stores before they have opened on the first day of availability has got shorter.

Their 1st offerings had gone by 09:05 am on the first day. Each store had only 5 or 6 PCs and 50 people were queuing for them.
The 2nd occasion the store had 15 or 20, only 10 or so customers had bothered to get there early and it took until 12:30 for the last 1 to be sold.

The ones that went on sale last November in Aldi were still available after 4 or 5 weeks. Our local store actually had 60 or 70 on the 1st day.

These latest PC "specials" for the Bank Holiday weekend (starts Thur 28th Apr) are already in the stores - at least ours anyway - and have been there for weeks!!!
These are exactly the same as those that went on sale 5 weeks ago on 17th March and are being re-advertised because they are not selling very well.
There are loads left according to the manageress.

Just be warned... I used to work for a software company that puts their antivirus on the Medion machines for free 90 day trial ( then you can buy it for a nominal charge ) - if you get a problem with this particular antivirus there is only a faq page or email support available for this piece of software. This can be extremely frustrating for the buyer, especially if they have little experience with computers.

On the plus side though the Medion helpline for the rest of the software and pc itself is really good and you are not forced to buy this antivirus.

Why any home users ever pay for anti-virus I'll never know. AVG is free for home use, no time limits. It downloads updates for free daily too.
