Best time of day for job interview?

Having interviewed and chaired panels for over 25 years now I'd say definitely morning if all interviews are scheduled in one day. Interviewing is draining work and the interviewers will get tired and might miss on important signals/points later in the day. If it's a panel, then very first interview is probably not the best, as the panel has to warm up with each other. Mid afternoon is probably the worst slot. Very last can work well for energising, lively candidates.
Having said that, an outstanding candidate will shine at any time.
If I'm scheduling interviews, then I'd try to do a half day at most and no more than three candidates, with at least 30 minutes between each. Not always possible with diary conflicts but a whole day isn't fair to candidates or interviewers.0 -
I think a morning interview is always better, as it gets the nervous part over with early doors and leaves you feeling more relaxed for the rest of the day.
If a company is interviewing several candidates then, it can become laborious and tiresome for the interviewer and they may miss out on what you said or had to offer the company.
could not agree more!
Whenever I have gone to an interview in the morning I have got the job. If you give a good impression you will stick in their heads the hole day and they will compare other candidates to you rather than them comparing you to someone else.Age: 24 / London/Ireland / Salary €49,000 / 1 London BTL (8% yield) / Total savings pot £12k+

just an idea.
for the candidates that live local slot them in the morning.
for the candidates that live far slot them in the afternoon.
Gives everyone a chance not be be late
Just an idea, for the candidates that live further, ask them which They would prefer.
I prefer 8 am Monday Morning, even if 150 miles away, because I'll stay the night in B&B before locally, and that way I'm not worrying on the day about my travel arrangements.
Alternatively I like Friday afternoon. Especially if it's on my way home.0
