Nottingham building society

Hi,
We are currently looking at 5 year fixed rate options with a 90% ltv and Nottingham building society are offering 4.39% which looks great. We currently have a mortgage with hsbc and we bank with first direct. We were going to get the new mortgage with hsbc but I've read a few stories about them being particularly tight on their 90% ltvs. To be honest, I don't think we have anything to worry about but I'm paranoid we'll get rejected ad it will cause us problems! so we started looking around and found the Nottingham had better rates any way. The only issue is, I don't know anything about them and don't know anyone with any experience of them. Has anyone here had any dealings with them and what were your thoughts?
Many thanks.

Ive called them a couple of times to check their criteria against what my clients have/need.
    Phone was answered in seconds.
Person on the other end, once a woman was a bit of a moody git, the other times no concerns.
Thats about all i can comment on as i never ended up submitting an app to them.

I would imagine they will be like most smaller building societies and everything will be fine. Service tends to be high up there with smaller lenders.

I used to have a number of savings accounts with them when they used to be market leaders, over the years the accounts have all matured and i have moved on.
The service was always good and i never had any issues

If you go into HSBC and you have an account with them they can do a soft search to see what they would be willing to lend you.

Thanks for your responses. We had a dip with hsbc but lost our buyer and its now expired. Since then we've seen the Nottingham's more attractive rate which is why we are now thinking of using them.

I've had savings accounts with them all my life, as have the rest of the family. Brother has a mortgage with them, never had a problem. They might not be the most competitive any longer, but they are one of the few lenders where you can go into a local branch and talk to someone that can help (and wants to!).
