I have been using Money for nearly 3 years. Its fantastic, I know to the penny what I have in the bank and can plan my spending and saving. The reports and cash flwo senerios are really good too.

  • I've been using it for a long time, over 5 years now!

I recently opened a Nationwide (when I switched away from First Direct) and, to my surprise, found that you could download your transactions directly into Money like you do the share price updates! Brilliant - so much easier than typing lots of codes into the internet banking website to download statements!

  • I didnt get on with it well and reverted to using spreadsheets, perhaps it depends how much detail you want to go into?

More recently I have been loading the sheets into SQL Server Express for analysis, devising my own rep services reports etc. Even building cubes but that's a little bit excessive lol.

I think MS Money is good if it fits around what you are interested in, but a free spreadsheet program (eg open office) may prove more flexible. It prob helps that my background is in financial reporting so I feel comfortable in quickly coming up with my own systems! I appreciate that not everyone might be so into doing it their own way!

I'm still confused, why would you want to download rather than enter into money directly. Surely to download is sort of like closing the stable door.......

Lee, Not sure what version I'm on.

    I don't quite follow...excuse me for being a bit slow! Maybe I wasn't clear:

It downloads your statement in real time. So, when you load up money, it adds the statement entrys in/out since last time you ran money when you press the update button. So, it saves you needing to log into internet banking to do it, or entering it manually from a statement.

Not a must have feature for most people, but shows that Nationwide are at least a little ahead of people when it comes to services...
