I have a panasonic bread machine and it's been producing great loaves with all types of flour, ie Tesco, Morrisons etc.

However my last few loaves have been a disaster, just flat.

My yeast is in date, my measurements are spot on and I don't know what's wrong?

Although it seems to be working, could part of the process be failing?

here is a picture, it's at the wrong angle but you can see the loaf..

I wonder if the hot weather might have something to do with it?

well I've been using it for a few years and it's never happened before
  • Hi

I have had the same problem in the past and read that the ambient room temp would affect the rise and texture.

It's fine when I use only cold water and better if the machine is on the timer to start early morning (3 or 4am) when the kitchen temp is lower (and the smell of fresh bread in the morning is gorgeous :))

    Hello

I had this problem in the winter time and wondered what the problem was and thought the machine had a problem, a bit like you, so I used warm water in the mixture, no difference, checked my yeast which was in date but I bought new and the bread was ok again. I would try new yeast. Failing that, what about trying a different type of bread?

Do you still have your manual? You could look in the trouble shooter section.

I've had probs similar in the past but mine wasn't a Pani. Eventually I had to replace.

My loaves would do exactly the same thing in my new Kenwood BM.

I tried a lot of different things and then,by chance, found that by doubling the salt quantities,I got a beautifully risen and great tasting loaf.Instead of putting in 1 and 1/2 tsp salt,I add 1 tbsp.I always make a 1kg loaf.

    PS The loaf isn't salty.

if it heats up - then it has a thermostat - and thermostats can fail. a common fault with many appliances.
