Credit Cards before mortgage

Hi my partner will be applying for a mortgage shortly. A financial advisor has said Santander have a good offer on so probably go with them. However my partner currently has three credit cards. One with a credit of 10 on it. One with o.s ballance of 800 which will be repaid before they aplly and one with 4k that is to remain o.s . Would it be best to close down the one in credit and one that will be repaid leaving one o.s or will it be better to keep open. I keep.getting mixed replies when researching online.
Thanks

Your partner has a debt £4800 on credit cards at the moment and available credit of say £10,000/15,000.
Now to put yourselves in the best position I would clear as much debt as possible and reduce the available credit.
Do not leave yourself with NO available credit ie one card with say £5,000 Limit and £4,000 outstanding as you may need the c/c cards to pay for items during the buying process.

Whatever you do Satander will factor in all the CC debt on file on application. Regardless of if, and when, you intend to settle it.

This is distinct from the usual approach from lenders which is to discount anything you intend to settle before completion.

Thanks for your replies, what are the chances of getting a mortgage with Santandar my partner has good credit rating, a loan of 85.00 a month and lets say the credit card of 3000 os with a limit of 4300, and earn 23500 a year, with a property of value of 70,000 and a deposit of 8k. The mortgage advisor seems to think there is a good chance, and based on a low score they would be able to get what we required.
