http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Money_illusion
In economics, money illusion, or price illusion, refers to the tendency of people to think of currency in nominal, rather than real, terms. In other words, the numerical/face value (nominal value) of money is mistaken for its purchasing power (real value). This is false, as modern fiat currencies have no intrinsic value and their real value is derived from their ability to be exchanged for goods (purchasing power) and used for payment of taxes.0 -
It makes me wonder is there a term for people that tend to get locked in time warps i.e. like an old aunt that would give her niece/nephew 50p thinking that it has much more significance (buying power) than it actually has.
I think I might be in the early stages of this, I now tend to keep saying 'How much?' I tend to do it over clothes a lot, but I did it again last night over a small bottle of Magners (330ml?) at the restaurant (it was £3.95, I still bought 2 though, although only 2 is probably showing restraint for me).Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

The forum hpc.co.uk is being discussed over here, rather too much.
Let these two forums live as brothers. Brothers who neither see nor speak to one another, and alternate going to family reunions even though it upsets their mum.0 -

It is indeed.
You can see it here too.
They're rattled.

Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”
