Lowell sending out fake Lloyds letters

Okay... So, I've got a Lloyds TSB debt (£1800:eek:) made up from bank charges which has remain unpaid since 2009ish, from then until around a year ago i got letters from lowell, then i moved.. Then moved again and recently got put on the ER (nothing or no one to hide from :rotfl::T)
Now.. I received a letter today, which appears to be from Lloyds TSB but on closer inspection you can tell that Lowell have copied it (from the low tsb logo and '2012' resolution).. it states that Lloyds have recently sold my debt onto Lowell last month, and all contact should be to Lowell... But they sold it on 4 1/2 years ago!.
Also, this letter from 'Lloyds' has a Lowell letter attached to it introducing themselves
I'm currently paying of a CC debt from Lloyds for £1600 (£400 to go), and I'd not like to pay off the full £1800 for reasons that they where unfair charges, and tbh... it will drop off in 1.2 years so is it worth it?
Also... Are Lowell even allowed? send out fake letters?
Thank in advance guys :)m

The fake letter is probably a scan of some actual correspondence from lloyds...
As for them being allowed to, as you yourself say, it's only from 4.5 years ago, so it's still enforceable...if LTSB have sold them the debt, then I'd assume they're within their rights.
You don't have to respond to it, I suppose, but if you don't, and they know you're there, I'd be expecting a letter from the county court fairly soon. You could, theoretically, respond as someone else, stating that you no longer lived there, or similar...though whether that would work is a matter for debate, and then there's the moral implications...0 -
They might settle or less, say 50%. As said, they could get a CCJ.
18 months to statute barred. You could ride it out, especially if you could raise the funds should they take you to court. Presuming 4.5 years since last payment or acknowledging the debt in writing.:beer:0 -
Haven't ever acknowledged it, maybe I'll offer £10 a month.0

i got the same thing from Lowells yesterday! I didn't realise it was a copy from LTSB, I assumed it was actually from them!0

If you look at the Logo's you can tell they are copied!!

You could phone up Lloyds to see what they say to this. I'm sure Lloyds would love to know if Lowell is doing something they are not supposed to. It properly is nothing.0

Seems to be standard practice for debt collectors to falsify these letters. Report to the OFT and trading standards.Still rolling rolling rolling......

lenders give these companys permission to print the assignment letters on their behalf, its due to bulk purchaseDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

they are using the logo as they will say they are acting on behalf of - almost certainly using the logo with permission of LLoyds.
Better question is have you claimed against the account for a refund of your bank charges?
I owed LLoyds £800 and they sold it to Lowell so I went after LLoyds for bank charges and got £2700 back of which I asked them to keep the £800 as my payment (I said this in my papers to the court and in how much I was asking for) but they didn't they sent me the whole lot!0 -
