Winning a competiton that you never entered...

Just had an interesting phone call from a gent, to inform me that the original winners of a comp have not claimed their prize, and so they're offering it to me. They had my email address and name, and the phone number checks out, so pretty sure it's not spam, but I just don't recall entering.

Having searched the forum, the only comp run by the same company I can find is this, which I doubt I would have entered as its in based in London, and I'm not, and skiing is definitely not my forte. Also, the event they've invited me to is in Manchester. Mega confusing.

Anybody else had a similar call today? Or ever won a comp they didn't enter?

Maybe somebody you know entered your name because they found the comp and couldn't use it themselves, so entered anyway and put your name. I do that sometimes when I spot stuff family could use if they won.
