Wonga loan settled, or not???
Hi
I took out a Wonga loan for 400 in May, and because of moving house rolled it over twice. To freeze interest I then entered a payment arrangement with them.
Unfortunately a payment was missed due to me not changing address at bank after changing address with Wonga (DC address has to match Wonga's records).
The first I knew of this was when they emptied my bank account. Apparently their policy is to try on the two days following the normal date and if no joy they take as much as they can of what is owed.
On speaking to them they were adamant it was my fault as I should have checked my account to see that the payment had been made, to which I explained DC payments take three days to arrive on my account, which is longer than their action time.
To cut a long angry story short, the agent agreed to apply (no guarantees) to have the money refunded to my account if I would give them my bank details (!!!). Surprisingly I said no to this and asked them to refund it to my card, which, IF approved, could take up to a week.
Once off the phone I contacted my bank and they agreed to cancel the CPA and recover the two transactions that Wonga had taken out. They also put a notice on the account to reclaim any future attempts by Wonga to claim money from my account by DC. The money was then refunded to my account.
Once this had happened I contacted Wonga to set up a standing order to repay the outstanding amount in line with the repayment arrangement that had been in place, starting with a larger payment to cover the missed week. This was accepted.
Now it gets interesting.
Wonga have refunded me the two payments they had taken less money due for the week missed.
I have been online today however to check my Wonga account and I have "no live loan". I have also received an email and text thanking me for paying off my loan!
Having spoken to Wonga (eventually) I have been reassured despite going through the above that the account is indeed settled in full and no monies are owing. I asked the agent to check this and was told exactly the same after a lot of key pushing.
Now I am not averse to repaying what I owe to Wonga, but wonder where I stand as they seem to think I owe them nothing. I don't want this coming back to bite me as I am only just starting to re-establish a reasonable credit rating after a bankruptcy a few years ago.
Any advice or comments please?

And yet you are trying to wreck it again by taking out payday loans.
Sorry, but pay what you owe, or this will get very messy.Debt free as of 7.20am on 31st December 2012.
Wow. Feels great :j :beer:0 -

Unfortunately there was a need for cash that could not be met any other way - believe me we tried everything from friends to bank.Sorry, but pay what you owe, or this will get very messy.
This is the crux of the problem - because their system says I owe nothing, then I cannot pay anything according to their agent :wall:0 -
Put the money to one side as their system will attempt to reconcile the transactions and they will come calling for payment.0
