swift first mortgage

Hi
First time poster, but I'm hoping someone can tell me if this is a scam -
I've received a letter from swift first about a mortgage I previously had (and failed to pay) with them - though its many years ago and all sorted out now.
The letter I have received states that they probably shouldn't have given me the mortgage due to me not being able to repay it and the FCA have ordered them to pay some recompense (I'm paraphrasing here)
It appears genuine, in that it has all my details correct, except that swift first has the same name and address but different email and telephone number to what their website states.
I'd write it off as spam, except for my details being right, plus they are not asking for anything - all they want is the slip returned with confirmation of the address I want the cheque sent to - the address being already printed on their letter, so its not like they are asking for details or a fee or anything.
Despite checking out the fsa, swift first websites and general searching I can't find any further information. Has anyone heard about this?
Thanks in advance

I'm not familiar with Swift - But a quick google search came up with this article - http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/mortgageshome/article-2041353/Acenden-Capstone-Swift-1st--mortgage-torment-FSA-failed-stem.html
Reading that I'd say it could be legitimate in that you may be due compensation for some of the penalties you were charged. I'd proceed with caution, but wouldn't rule it off as a scam just yet.
Giving out your bank details or your proof of your address isn't much of a worry (I wouldn't transfer them any money and I wouldn't give them any card numbers).
If in doubt, get a contact number off Swifts website and give it a call, they should be able to clear it up
Kind regards,
Cal
Edit: The article is from 2011, which means they've been very slow in contacting you, but it could still be legit.0 -
Hi Caladan
Just wanted to come back and thank you for the advice - and to let anyone else who gets these letters know - reply as soon as possible!
They sent me a nice tidy sum, which cleared fine today!

So glad I didn't write it off as just spam!
Thank you very much!0
