Mortgage advice needed urgently

I was made redundant last April - lived off my payoff whilst looking for work, but haven't found anything yet. I've applied for JSA and have to go back tomorrow for the second interview. I have no money left at all and tomorrow, when the mortgage payment goes out, I will be vastly overdrawn.
I had an £800 overdraft with Santander - but they apparently stopped that and didn't write to advise me. So I assumed I had £800 to tide me over until I either get paid JSA or was lucky enough to find some work. I asked on the phone if they could reinstate the overdraft, but they said they can't look into that until I am actually overdrawn - I said I will be overdrawn on Monday (spoke to them on Friday). She just said to call back then, but I refuse to do so as (a) they are useless and (b) it's an 0845 number. So I'm going to a branch to try and speak to someone face-to-face.
I'm thinking of not renewing my home insurance in August - would this be a stupid thing to do?
I know they can't give us a fortune in benefits, but £71 is just a joke. £3692 a year - how can they expect anyone to survice on that? We still have to pay bills and eat. Even if I can manage to get a payment break from the mortgage, £71 a week won't cover my bills and food. I really need phone and internet - as I spend most of the day searching for work online - but they will obviously cut me off when I can't pay if the bank won't reinstate my overdraft.
I'm just so worried and stressed. I really don't know what to do.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

This isnt really mortgage advice you need. Its benefits advice.
It may be possible you can get help with regards to the interest on your mortgage - this may mean your lender will put you on interest only for a period whilst you get back on your feet.
You may also be eligible for other tax credits - council tax, child tax etc etc. There is another forum on this site which may be able to offer more support.
I cant imagine Santander are going to give you an overdraft with no way of repaying it back - firstly it would be frowned upon by the FSA/FCA and secondly it doesnt make good business sense.
I would get yourself down to Citizens advice to discuss what benefits/tax credits are available. £71 is impossible to live on so im assuming there are other things available.
Take a look at this, it may help... http://www.entitledto.co.uk/I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. You must keep the buildings element of your home insurance going - it's a condition of the mortgage.0
