Your eligibility for JSA will depend, principally, on your NI contributions history.
They would look at the last two completed financial years to see whether you had made sufficient contributions in those years. If you had not, then you would not be eligible for contributions-based JSA and would need to be assessed for income-related JSA.0 -

You would qualify for 6 months of contribution based JSA and then you will be moved to income based JSA. The amounts are the same, the former just doesn't take into account partner income or other income sources (savings/investments etc)0 -
As long as you say that the temporary contract ended rather than being sacked it shouldn't be a problem from that area.0

Provided you don't freely quit nor fire for gross misconduct you will get JSA, unless you have a lot of money in the bank. It is a safety net, it is there for all those who through no fault of their own are unemployed and need a little money to make it until they find new work.0 -

What I meant is that rather than quit and go on the dole, get another job asap - temping if I have too..
If you see what I mean0 -
Are you suggesting moving from a perm contract to temp one to propagate a agency/client termination, and one which doesn't expose you as the reason for losing the temp job?
It's crafty, but it will work, yes.0 -

perm now in a company - been loaded with more and more work / deadlines.
on sick for anxiety - thought I was going to have a breakdown
cant go on - doc prescribed drugs
therefore, as i dont want to be not working, thought this might be a alternative until I feel better0
