But then it all depends on that actual amount doesn't it. If 15% is equal to £100 a month, that's not going to go towards school trips. Surely, it would be acceptable for the pwc to then approach nrp, in time, and ask whether they would consider contributing anything additional towards it. I would hope any caring dad would see what he can do to put a little bit aside each month to help towards that trip (assuming it is not one of those £1,000 ones every year).

Of course ,but it is nice to be able to offer that as & when needed. The pwc in our case got all the school/college trips free which meant they got to got on the same school trips we had to pay for ,for my daughter who was the same age.It was a real struggle to pay for those but I was determined my daughter (from my previous rel/ship)should go on them & had to use my family allowance to pay for them for her!

Thank you for all your comments.

We pay £350na month and have given money for school trips etc in the past. We don't begrudge this and my husband loves his children very much. We see them every weekend via a court order he had to pursue and pay ££££ for because his ex wouldn't give him access even though they split after her affair.

The issue is she literally demands more money and wants it by the following week! Sometimes hundreds of pounds. My step son had holes in his shoes for months as she refused to buy him more and kept telling him to ask his dad to buy some! So what is our maintenance being spent on if not shoes and clothes? ! Incidentally, we got him shoes to keep at our house because we didn't see why we should be paying for basics like shoes too.

Worth noting pwc household income is c. £120000. Ours is 1/3 of that as I'm desperately seeking work!

We're not unreasonable NRP but there's a limit and we're close to reaching it!

£350 is about 15% of a £40,000 income, not much really?

Don't forget they're with us every weekend, 2 weeks solid in the summer and 1 week at Christmas so although it's approx 15% they spend 1/3 of their time with us where we pay for everything. The ex won't let them bring any clothes or shoes to our house so we also buy them another set of everything they already have at at their mum's too, and our maintenance will have helped pay for what's at her house, yet we have to buy it all again with no money from her to help!!!

I was a single parent for many years, never got a penny off my ex but we managed ,there was no benefit disregard then ,all except £10 had to go back to the Secretary of State to 'repay' what they gave you in Income Support. Fast forward 10 years, get married to a NRP ,then know what its like to struggle when the nrp's ex holds all the cards ! We paid the pwc every month, had children every weekend (there were 4 of them +one of mine ),took them on holiday, bought their uniforms & school shoes & coats when asked ,nearing the end of requirement to pay CM-it counts for nothing when the pwc decides to act & the CSA believe her! We are on CSA 2 though!

Clearly not. What I meant by that is that we both contribute to the kids (when I'm earning) and that we're a couple so we deal with it together.

I'm sure you could've surmised this yourself...
