Highview / Tesco Parking Fine

I recently received an charge notice from Highview Parking for parking over the limit in Tesco's. After doing a bit of research I assumed that I had nothing to worry about as many websites stated that the company was trying to scam people into paying the fines.
After ignoring the initial letter, I received an charge notice reminder with the fine increasing to £70. At this point, I am unsure what action to take regarding the fee and whether I should just give in and pay up at this late stage.
Hope you can help as this is the first parking fine I've received so it can be quite daunting to research with the amount of conflicting information out there!
Thanks

You still haven't got a parking fine. Your research should at least have revealed that much. It should also have told you that you won't be paying.
You should have appealed really, which is the current advice. However, you are probably too late for that now. Best approach now is to keep on ignoring. They will send you ever more hysterical letters with more and more red ink. It's all waffle.0 -

If I keep ignoring them, do they have any power to stop me from parking in the same Tesco supermarket again?
Also, is there any chance this fine might damage my credit rating should I not pay up and do they have any power to get the payment using other means such as bayliffs etc?

God no, they want you to park there and commit another "offence" so they can scam you some more. Remember, this is a request for monies via an invoice. 70% of people pay up. Of the other 30%, some ignore calling their bluff, where as the smart ones check out their legal position and appeal, then go down the POPLA route.
They have absolutely no power to affect your credit rating, etc, unless they take you to Court and get awarded in their favour. if you follow the advice here that could happen, but is highly unlikely.
Don't worry!Search my post " PoPLA evidence - What to submit" on what is a good defense for a PoPLA appeal.0 -

It's private property, they (Tesco) can refuse access to whoever they like. It's not likely to happen though, because this entire scam has nothing to do with parking control and everything to do with chiselling money out of people. They want you to park there and break their "rules" so they can charge you.
Can't imagine why you'd want to though. If some scammer tried to charge me £70 for shopping with them I'd never go there again, and I'd be telling them why very very LOUDLY!Also, is there any chance this fine might damage my credit rating should I not pay up and do they have any power to get the payment using other means such as bayliffs etc?

It is under your control at all times. The only way this could damage your credit rating is if (i) they took you to court (ii) they won and (iii) you still refused to pay. And after all that, they would need to apply to the court again to get bailiffs involved. It's all very, very unlikely. Have a read of the Parking Prankster to get some idea of the kind of idiot pond-life you are dealing with:

I have had 3 fake PCNs in 2 different Supermarket car parks, ignored them all and always park there when shopping. Nothing happens, nothing can happen.
But next time, appeal in time as you read old advice if you thought you should ignore it (2012 advice). Should have read the current forum here and you'd have learned about POPLA appeals and the Parking Prankster's blog (Google it!) and had some fun with getting the thing cancelled.
The only thing you CAN do now to try to get the thing cancelled is to complain to Tesco.
Dress up smartly and go to the store and insist on a 'quiet word' with the Store Manager (do not accept a 'Duty Manager' from the meat counter or wherever). Be assertive and wave the letters and your Tesco receipts around a bit, in front of customers and requiring the Store Manager to cancel it if he wants to keep your family's business.
Oh and someone just reported getting their fake PCN cancelled by emailing a complaint to the CEO of Tesco, here you go:

His email addy is on that thread. Go straight to the top and get the stupid threat cancelled.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
