Possible council tax over payment !

I moved into my new home on 7th January this year and informed my council with regards to paying my council tax.
Long and short of it is I got billed for a charge period of 5th January-31st March which I paid. After that I got my yearly bill as expected. Payments from April - January 2014. I didn't think I would have to pay anything for February and March as these are the two months that are council tax free !
Don't know if its the council that have got it wrong and I didn't need to pay Feb and March.
Any advice muchly appreciated.

Council tax is a daily charge for 365 days, that is billed annually, and then you can pay in 10 monthly installments.
So no Feb and March are not free months, usually you will have paid for them in the payments that you have made through the year.
