Upsidedown Bear - no good asking me - I'm here and not watching it :rotfl::rotfl: However, the TV listing guides of what ever price go into raptures about It, Dame Maggie Smith and Julian Fellowes at the drop of a hat, so there must be something in it
There were scones today - have a feeling they may of been a better choice.......

Morning!
A bit of a flying skim-read from me. What was supposed to be a day of leisure before the new job starts tomorrow :eek: has turned into a day of dashing around procurring cough medicine for Mr 7WW and red mite spray for the hens :eek::eek:
Oh well, hopefully things will calm down later and I can have a nice relaxed proper read-back.
Have a good day all.0 -

Sorry I'm a bit late tonight. We had the inaugural meeting of the 'Wheel Tappers and Shunters' sub-committee no. 5 aka - 'we'd better start singing from the same hymn sheet if we're going to make any progress here'. Venue: Greying Towers, Elected members present: 2, Items on agenda: 6.......................:D
Result: 5 items sorted/dealt with. 1 item awaiting further thinking about and 1 item not on the agenda discussed ad infinitum and still not resolved :rotfl::rotfl:
So, October is really going to see the start of something new...... Um, I think.......:rotfl::rotfl:
Actually, I did manage to contact our local Credit Union today, and they are putting application forms in the post. It was interesting that my enquiry was met with a, 'are you interested in taking out a loan with the Credit Union? Um, or are you just interested in starting a savings account?' I was under the impression that you had to be a member for a period of time (preferably saving a little something) before you got to be considered for a loan application. Tell me I'm not behind the times again? Actually, scrub that, I realise I am an old fossil, living in fossilshire and I'm on the verge of becoming extinct, if I have not already done so...:rotfl:
We had chickpea soup for dinner. It was spiced with ras-el-hanout, so went in a middle-eastern direction - rather than meditteranean - accompanied with some harissa oil to make it a little more interesting. I couldn't take a photo - the camera couldn't cope with the all consuming beigeness of it :rotfl: But it was filling, cheap and tasty enough. And I've not crumbled this month and resorted to chips/takeaway - which is an achievement for me and not a criticism of chippy teas or takeaway meals - so don't nobody take no offence
Today was payday (phew! made it), so the budgeting begins. I have the housekeeping money for October and have started to spend a little bit, as we have run out of things. But today's purchases were 'on list' and therefore 'in budget'.
Today I am grateful for these 3 things;
kind-hearted youth - I witnessed a till assistant go above and beyond to help 2 'very advanced in years' gentlemen today, who had both presented at her till, and both had difficulties, dropped their shopping, dropped their money, got confused etc etc. The young lady, who I would think as late teens/early 20's closed her till, got out of her seat and sorted them out and made sure that they left the store intact with their purchases, wallets and dignity. Then came back, cheerily apologised to the rest of the queue and processed everyone in quick timePlenty of till assistants - young and old, male and female - would of sat, sighing and eye-rolling and not assisted these customers. This young lady did, and it was a pleasure to see. Such 'good news' ought to drown out the negative cr*p about the 'youth of today' that always fills our media.
that I'm not alone - A complete stranger struck up conversation with me today. It was as though there had simply been a lull in conversation and they were starting on the next 'topic'. It seemed as though they just needed to connect with another human being - to get recognition. Whilst I am happy in my own company, I don't feel lonely. I am truly grateful for that.
for teamwork - individual accomplishment is great. But sometimes you need a 'team' to make things move. Today we are on page 1 of hymn 1. Progress is being made. And no, I've not raced to the back of the hymnal to see how many pages there are :rotfl:
If you have dropped by, read and/or contributed to this thread today I am grateful. I appreciate the focus that having this diary is giving me - along with all the laughs
See y'all later.
Edit: I forgot to add. We now need to pay for the washing machine so the key fund total will be amended accordingly.
