Good morning! I have been away for a few days for a sort of work break. Don't ask! I came on the forum yesterday for a panic about food after watching Horizon (we are going to revert to mostly being veggie, GP!) :-)

    Missed you guys!

A horrible man just swore at me on the bus. Why can't more people be as kind and considerate as you guys?

  • Good Morning :hello:

Friday already - how does it happen?

I was going to change the meal plan around and make a pizza for tonight, but I have the mushrooms to use, so I am going to make a version of Californian barley bowl, I think. Let us hope we don't have ice-storms, snowfall and sub-zero temperatures before the end of the day.......... :)

I'm going to start giving some thought to the September meal plan too. I know once we get engrossed in diy, that the days will fly. I think it best to try to get on with diy this weekend - everywhere will be packed anyway, so we may as well stay at home and have a treat to look forward to later on.

If you read any paper or even web-site at the moment, there seem to be an awful lot of price-rises in the offing. Ok, not all of it is 'necessary' spend, but coupled with prices seeming to yo-yo in the supermarket, I am getting a bit worried about budgets again. I mean, yes, we got discounts on the things that we bought this week, but actually, if you start to count up the time *used* (I'll remain polite) to gain those discounts or sweetners, then, really......... I've felt the lack of allotment produce this year :( Mind, that's not the panacea of 'cheapness' that it is made out to be - rent/seeds/manure/canes/tools etc, before you begin to count time..... But the equivalent produce in the shops is priced so high. Courgettes (packaged, natch :() are averaging 33p each! Our 'market' charges more than the high end supermercados and is a total waste of space. Hmmmm, still, we can soldier on, right? And there is always folks worse off than us in the world, so I continue to count my blessings for what I do have, rather than what I lack :D

I've got a stack of stuff to get on with, so if you see me dawdling about on here, please boot me up the rear and tell me to 'ger off, and do summat, will ya?' :D Ta :D

Thanks for popping in, making me smile and being all round good eggs. I appreciate it. Greatly.

    See y'all later.

I heard about that programme, but missed it. I did wonder from the description of the first part, whether it was more about diseased meat, but got the gist of it from the description of the second. I try to avoid commenting on meat-eating, as I feel we must eat as we see fit. However, food safety of calves liver is as important as food safety of carrots in my book........

  • Good morning, GP

That mushroomDopiaza looks amazing. I could have done with some of that to warm me up yesterday! I did eventually warm up ( a few jigs and extra clothing helped) then we took dear FiL shopping. His flat was roasting  but, I guess, that at 92 yrs old.... needs must.. The sweetie gave me a £5 bag of 20p's (to fill up the petrol tank :rotfl::rotfl:) and a lottery ticket for Saturday

    Good Afternoon :D

Well, I've achieved very little of any concrete use today *sigh*

However, I have spent [STRIKE]hours [/STRIKE] some time constructing next month's meal plan by [STRIKE]drooling over food sites on the internet[/STRIKE] meticulous research ;) So all is not lost. Plus I've had a NSD - although that was more by luck than judgement :(

little_sweetie - I'm pondering when the 20p first came into circulation? I suspect you couldn't have filled up the petrol tank of an average size run around even in them days eh? Still, brill that your FIL obviously appreciates you enough to make the contribution :D

Right, I'm away to start making dinner. We've lucked out with snowfall :( So Californian Barley bowl (modified ver.) it is :D :j:rotfl:

I shall probably spend the evening enjoying DP's company, so I'll bid you good night and sign off now :D

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

bloggers - and how they catch the detail of just the information that you need, making it all available, online, for free :D

that I have learnt about some new cuisines - watch this space :D

that as of 17.00hrs DP is free to be on vacation with me - :j:j

Thank you so much for popping by, reading and joining in. Mucho appreciated.

    See y'all tomorrow.
