Benefits and Nationwide BS

Nationwide have taken my tax credits of backdated of nearly £1450, to pay an overdraft. They withdrew the overdraft facility as I had no salary, as I was ill last year.
They are still charging me, and they will not give me back by WTC, which the tax office lady said, they should not be taking it to pay off an overdraft.
I sent them a letter of appropriation, but got a statement today with charges and £20 for an unauthorised overdraft.

My understanding is the letter of appropriation is only valid if you notify the bank/buikding society proir to the credit hitting the account.

I know that now, but I had no notification that it was going in, and the Nationwide had already taken away the overdraft facility.

There's been no error on Nwide part from the information you've given. Were you in a payment plan for your Overdraft?

If you were, could contact them to ask as a gesture that they allow to access to the funds and to continue on your previous agreement.

If you werent actively looking to repay your debt to them, then you can hardly expect them to go out of their way to help you now.

    Goodluck!

So, have HMRC lied about claiming the money back from NW?

pepper33, it won't help people who want to help you, and therefore it won't help you if you open umpteen threads about the same problem

Two of your other threads about this issue I found:
