Shares question

I have a few shares in a company - worth a few tens of thousands of pounds.

Are these of any use to me if I am looking for a mortgage?

Other than selling them (I can sell some but not others). I also have a smallish dividend income from them each year which I suppose would be taken into account.

However, what I want to know is, are the actual shares worth anything to me in terms of borrowing?

My assumption is they are not - but I stand to be corrected.

Cheers.

The answer to your question is no.

Realise them for cash in a tax efficient manner then use the proceeds towards the purchase.
