Hello tax peeps,
I'm in the RAF and there has been much talk at the minute about getting tax back as we have to launder our own uniform. Can anybody shed any light on this situation? MTIA:D

I'm not sure if this applies to the military as it does civilian trades but the civilian poisition is this:
If the uniform is:
- provided by the employer
- carries the employer's logo
- is required to be laundered by the employee at their expense
then an allowance of £45 per annum can be claimed (and this can be backdated for 6 years) against tax. (Remember that for most people the cash reclaimed is around £10 per year -i.e. £45 * 22%)
Still not bad for 10 minutes writing a letter :-)0
