FTB....When to change address after exchange

Hi All,

Apologies if this is in the wrong bit. just wondered if anyone can help we have successfully exchanged on a property and completion is in just over a week. We can i start changing addresses and ordering bits and pieces to be delivered to the new house?

Thanks for your answers in advance.

Get the forms from Royal Mail or their website and study the process. You will find that you need to verify the instruction from your current address, so don't leave mail redirection too late. Sorry to be a bit vague, I am going from memory and sticking to the bits which will not lead you into problems but hopefully that will set you on the right track
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'

I made enquiries at my local post office regarding re-direction of post and was told to allow at least a week for the re-direction to be set up.

    HTH :)
  • Hi Divadian,

    Congrats on exchanging :)

Judgement call really with the change of address; you can start to contact companies as early as you like if you're confident that they'll action the change once you've actually moved rather than from the minute you call them! :)

Is the house empty or is someone living there? If someone's living there would you really want comfidential post e.g. bank statements to arrive at the new house before you do?
