Dental negligence

Hi all,
I have contacted a solicitor who has agreed to take on my case for dental negligence. They have sent out a load of paperwork for me to sign. One part confused me which was about After the event insurance. From what i gather it's something i will have to pay if my claim is granted. Would this be payable by me once it is all over and how much will it be?
I also wondered if i am liable for fees if the claim is not granted. Can anyone help and explain things in a bit simpler terms for me please?

Shouldn't the solicitor be explaining it all properly to you?
If he doesn't, then he too is behaving unethically and negligently! How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
You really need to get your solicitor to explain everything to you in depth so you perfectly understand it before you sign anything.
My understanding, which could very well be wrong , is since April this year when the rules on no win no fee was changed, if you take out a medical negligence case you take out an insurance to pay the cost of the opponents legal fees (and on some policies your own )and associated expenses.
My understanding is if you lose the cost of the insurance is covered, if you win the cost comes out of your settlement but I could be wrong.
The cost of the insurance will vary according to how good a case you have, t what stage it is and ho complicated it is and will vary from case to case.
But as said before ask your solicitor as the rules on funding these cases changed in April this year and you could be left with huge expenses to pay if you win or lose. In dental cases the legal fees can be ten times the amount awarded to the complainant so make sure you understand and are happy before you sign anything.0 -

The Lawyer will get a fee win or loose.0
